One Week Old!

Can you believe Lily is already one week old???

My birthday

I was born Tuesday, November 20th at 3:36pm. I had to be rushed to the NICU right after Daddy cut my cord because the doctors needed to intubate me. Mommy and Daddy didn't get to hold me right away... In fact they barely got to see me as I was rushed out of the room. It was very scary for Mommy and Daddy, but they didn't have to wait long before the doctors came back and said that I was going to be fine (although they still kept me for an hour for observation). Daddy was allowed to come see me but Mommy was not because she still could not walk. After the doctors gave me the ok, Daddy brought me back to the room and I was finally placed into my Mommy's arms.

The story behind my name

Mommy and Daddy had a lot of fun coming up with my name. In fact, they had picked it out before I was even conceived! They kept the name a surprise through the whole pregnancy, and referred to me as "Little Blueberry Calvarese" (or LBC) since I was the size of a blueberry when they found out about me.

My first name, Johanna, was chosen to honor the memory of two Aunt Jo's - one on Mommy's side and one on Daddy's. It was also chosen as part of Daddy's family history of Joe's, including Daddy, Grandpa Joe, and the late Great-Grandpa Joseph Calvarese.

My middle name, Lillian, was chosen to honor the memory of Mommy's Grandma Lilly. Mommy and Daddy call me Lily for short, even though it is actually my middle name. Boy, am I going to have a tough time explaining that to people when I'm older!

I have been keeping Mommy and Daddy up all night these past few days so they haven't had a chance to post photos of me. They will get some pictures up soon hopefully!

Welcome Lily!

Yesterday we welcomed Lily Calvarese into our arms. Mommy labored for over 80 hours and Lily was finally born at 3:36 PM on November 20th. She weighed 7lbs 1 oz. Her full name is Johanna Lillian Calvarese. We love her so much and can't wait for everyone to meet her!

Still not leaving!

Mommy has been in labor for a long time now but I don't want to leave yet! The doctors told mommy to go home for a while to see if I would move down on my own. Fat chance!
